Swiftwater rescue clinics, roll sessions, loop runs, falls clinics: ride the exciting educational rapid that is TRPC! TRPC offers everything from the basics of boating to boating finesse for expert paddlers. TRPC education, Gary McCormick, Vice-Chairperson:
Whitewater thrills boaters, but that rush is also dangerous. To be free on the river, you need to know swiftwater rescue. For years, TRPC's been honored to have great instructors like Charlie Walbridge and Clay Wright putting on clinics for various methods of SWR and kayaking techniques. Knowing what to do, when to do it, and moving with purpose gives our members confidence to boat together in any whitewater they choose. Keep an eye on the Calendar to see Swiftwater Rescue Clinic dates!
Boaters need to know how to roll. Plus, it doesn't hurt to stay on the water in the winter! Jeff Prycl, kayaker for over 20 years, leads sessions at the Scottdale Community Pool on Tuesdays, mid January through mid March. These sessions build up to a beginner's trip on the Loyalhanna: a perfect way to pontificate through action your paddling prowess! Consult the Calendar for dates, times, and cost for the rolling and the Loyalhanna.
Put paddle to water and perfect your stroke on the gorgeous Lower Youghiogheny. Boater extraordinaire, Jeff Prycl, leads groups down the Loop Sundays, mid June to late August. Filled with thrills, but compact, the Loop Run is perfect for forming your boating skills as well as fond and funny memories as countless as the eddies!
You're a big, bad boater? Alright, Mr. Whitewater! Here's the place in TRPC for you! The weekend before the Ohiopyle Falls extravaganza, TRPC offers a Falls Clinic so you can style the stoutest whitewater. Check the Calendar to get these skills as big as your boater ego.
